reincarnation and enlightenment

upwards and backwards
a ladder-like helix twirls on its flipside
atomic, deterministic, inspired
i lost among its countless rungs

climb in the direction of tulips, shells, and pearls
the way of being without words,
and envision trees, rocks, and clams
the only thing to touch is dirt

reach towards the other world
of fireflies, wolves, and prophets,
and envision ants, dogs, and lovers
the only thing to touch is worms

working in my garden
hands toying for a moment with what one can
touch,
looking away—the busy street
turns black with shut eye

and i envision...
and i stretch in all directions...

and then
I,
am just me again
