Pyramids, Circles, and Stars
Untangling a web,
Inflamed by injustice and bad genes,
Tricks a mind amid
Scenarios of intoxication and
Challenges marked by victory yet to be.
Picking up, soaring occasionally,
Driven by others’ intentions,
Structures planted by practitioners
Of either expertise or infatuation,
One’s ideas take shape--
Pyramids and stars and circles.
Circles pose a threat.
The sunset, a circle making its way south,
Leaves one to be chased in the dark--
Keep up! Go faster!
The other shapes find their place on the water.
Reflections,
Pyramids capsized, dance down to the sea floor
As sand through an hourglass.
Once such grandiose inventions at sunrise
Fill the grainy beach shore,
Stars, mirrored stars,
Steady. Beautiful.
