Native Land - Houston
As I crunch through the patterned streets,
In my ever cool VW Golf, feeling the heat,
With the windows down and the moist summer air,
Dripping down my back, hair curling up
At a moment’s notice, I sneeze.
It’s the feeling after the sneeze that is
Such relief. Instead of the mountains,
Home has alpine cityscapes and monumental
Trees, established sushi restaurants, flashing
Lights, Opportunity rises in every alcove.
I love it here! I bellow with cheer,
I found my niche, a sleek downhome
Wonderland, a place to raise my family.
As the sun sets, and the coolness sets in,
Smoothie at the coffee shop, and thanking God.
