Women In My Mind

I was haunted by a certain type of woman
But I stepped outside
Remembering my past
And clenched the silver money tree
I remembered my grandmother with her sweet strawberries
Dipped in powdered sugar
She was a host
She was wild
And she demanded respect
From her friends man and female
I loved her love for yellow, cigarettes, temperament among people
When she told a story people laughed
And lightened up
I met her the other day outside the house
Where are these haunting women?
I didn’t see them there
Instead I saw her - everywhere
Creating their lemonade, churning their butter
They made me laugh and gave me respect
Temperament in their veins was alive with a feminine nature
They nodded to men
Befriended wives
And cherished their love life with someone they knew
Riding their motorcycles together, on his back seat
But not with my love
They weren’t out to steal with an act of jealousy
“Me too” for women whose men had other women rung loud and clear
The movement was alive
With gold fineness
And I turned on music dancing with them
We broke loose from our chains
Gathering together at the fire pit
With wine and toasts
And the silver money tree did not wither.
