The HEart Couple

He says, “it's just you and me babe,
And I have to appreciate what I have.
Not anticipate what I don’t have (kids)
That may or may not ever be."
He says he appreciates me.
Life is good right now for both of us.
He takes a token ring
And puts it on my second finger.
He has one on too.
We match for the day.
It’s sweet!
I say, "I’m doing and feeling
The very best I ever have,
I’m setting about to accomplish
Some of the greatest things now.
We have a wonderful home here
And all our friends and family
Are close, nearby.
I don’t want anything to mess
With me doing well in my head,
With my abilities.
No more up and down,
Or sliding into a deep pit.
I’m done wallowing in the mud
And we have a game plan to keep it that way.
I love you!
We have something real here.”

I can hear the silent sounds in the silence.
Their trying to build something,
Say something, become something.
I’m no longer available to carry out
Their whims to the higher ups.
But when the birds chirp and
The squirrels scurry
And the deer toss up leaves
In the morning,
I’ll say "carry on" to them.
It’s good for my heart
And so many others.
This team - my love and I -
We are heart people
And a deer panting over a layer of silence
Means more to us than conspiracies.
The game plan is to “carry on”,
Appreciating and finding nuggets
Of wisdom and fun to smile about.
And to help us do right.
And we have a game plan to keep it that way.
We love you!
There is something real here.
