Latitudes and Dreams
I used to play country home in my garage
With a broom, a kitchen table, a suitcase of clothes
A storm outside seeping in the door.
I used to tumble down steep passageways
A grassy backyard and sand dunes
I washed the earth off my body.
I used to work out for self-defense
And calorie-burning and strong-muscle
To stretch my bones for vitality.
I still watch the skies
Overcast and clear as day
Clouds now in slow motion, catching up soon.
Life about to start
Rapid eye movements in deep sleep suppressed
Stillness more around with whiteness.
I want to talk with my hands
Move my body with soft charisma
Change my appetite for destruction.
I want to braise the morning sky
And raise my eyebrows to what happened
To see a glimpse of hope in perseverance.
By my side I hope for lifelong love
For my taste — good heath
A treasure trove of experience to bridge upon.
To lament and latitude
With today’s times’ in connection with…,
To effect, to affect.
Lay me out
Protect my body
Answer a prayer.
These are my latitudes and dreams
Trifold
In the back trunk of my mind.
