I Surrender To Him, I Can't Help It
(regular/not so regular version)

A rose descended on them and he will lead a better future.
I like his voice - dark, moonlit, fun -
   his conversation with me.
Sometimes he's the only one that makes
   sense in the room
   except my father.
He's familiar but I pretend I
   just met him
   & our marriage is arranged.
He has a handsome look.
so I spread my legs on top of him to do something to him
   for him.
His soul is dangerously attractive.
He walks into my life and says this time
   let this woman be independent,
   who she is.
   Let her speak for herself.
Let her be wild but never cheat on her husband,
   meaning behind his back.
   Let her never surrender.
So she plans to sing to him their song
"Remember When" by Alan Jackson & make love
to him with good food, beauty,
& whatever he wants on Thursdays.
He gives her whatever she wants too - on Fridays,
   not binding her up
   & he protects her.
They aren't from around here.

I Surrender to him, I can't Help It
(President's Version)

A rose descended on them and he will be a better leader.
I like his voice - dark, moonlit -
   his conversation with me.
Sometimes he's the only one that makes
   sense in the room
   except my father.
He's familiar but I pretend I
   just met him
   & our marriage is arranged.
Powerful somewhere else with a different look.
When we met it was dark both times -
a war of words, a different start.
He wanted me to climb on top of him so I did.
"Detail" for him is easy. His soul is beautiful.
He walks into the past & says this time
let Isis be a poet - I want her to be a poet.
   Let her speak for herself.
   Be independent.

Let her be wild but never cheat on her husband,
   white as snow.
   Let her never surrender.
So she plans to sing to him her favorite song
"White Flag" by Dido & make love
to him with good food, beauty,
& whatever he wants on Thursdays.
He gives her whatever she wants too - on Fridays,
not binding her up & he protects her.
They aren't from around here.
