My Husband

James tastes like coffee in the morning
And salt in the mouth by evening
He is stable at the core
Flaming heart in the alternative ego
Alive with a challenge
Attracted to the light
Dark as hell
Fun to be around
I’m lucky to know him the way that I do
He fills my life with pieces of gold
It radiates and shines for others to see
He hides his complexity
Under a brazen skin
And a salute
He tells and most listen
James is my husband
A true legacy of him lives in minds
Even my gut responds
To be his wife
James — kiss me.
