God's Poetry

I live in Tennessee -
Referred to often as God’s country,
We get His high foot traffic
And believers are many.
The Smokey Mountains - His handiwork
Is breathtaking all year long,
Creation with all four seasons on display.

God’s poetry as if He “wrote" all things into existence,
He is also a molder and a planter,
He left blueprints of His poetry everywhere.

We journey, we write, we get inspired,
A hill of bluebonnets, a steep red rock formation,
An evergreen tree, a purple sunset, the Milky Way.

God rarely ever spoke in direct words,
The Bible is left - God’s poetry is within it.
He speaks in images and through nature
And through the intelligent design of species like us.
God’s poetry is in all directions.

For instance,
A woman journeys and spills her guts out
On a napkin in a busy scene.
The species is busy.
She shares her words, her poetry, today.
We’re listening.
This is God’s poetry in action.

It’s us right now.
Immersed in God’s poetry we break for a moment of silence.

        <Silent pause>
        <Silent pause>

Then we get busy creating,
For we mold and we plant and we write
A poem within a poem within God’s poetry.
