For Lovers

Chilling in my bedroom at night
With someone I love
Faded white curtains blow with the wind
By the open window there
As I sing about raindrops and the sea
And other forms of water
I drink.

I last a long time
With my wife
I love her
She raises her eyebrows
At my sin
But she paints herself
Golden in the sunlight
For me
And endless days of summer.

The riptide rolls across
The ocean floor
I drop by the sand to tan
My olive body next to hers
And wish our life were better
We work across an imprint of time
Thousands of years old
I die for her
And she depresses her soul
Into a circle of ash
Grey and black pile up
On the tree of life
A star drops out of the sky.

My smile turns to sawdust
The earth pains in agony
As her lips purse
For another day
A new love is assigned to her
Rearranged
A tough but tender heart
And he says
What’s up?
I can’t tell him but I say
Be my lover for a long time
The sky turns black
And she rides the stallion
And his manhood
As the music pounds in Jordon.
