Curious Minds
Kids ask a lot of questions
Prodding mom and dad
“Why?" “Why?" “Why?"
But everyone ages,
They start knowing
And stop asking "Why?"
People like to feel settled,
Settled on what they know,
Settled on their worldview.
What is unsettling?
Lack of understanding
And lack of knowing in general.
As we age we should still prod,
Prod books, prod on-line, prod each other,
Prod again what has settled in our minds.
Dust off the cobwebs in our brain,
Explain the meaning of life to ourselves one more time,
Know our religion, strengthen our beliefs.
Enrich our inner child,
Learn something new,
Instill ancient wisdom.
Memorize the stars in the sky,
Find life in history,
Learn skills to work for a good living.
Again,
We should ask “Why?"
And toil in the moment.
Why is the origin of the Universe so evasive?
Why is man’s origin so debatable?
How is my origin tied to my parents and ancestors?
How does my watch tell time?
What is the engine behind my computer?
How long has man really been in space?
What makes people tick?
Why do people suffer?
Who determines the lives of countrymen?
Why is the future dependent on the past?
Is the present dependent on the future?
Do people have freewill in the present moment?
Again,
We should ask “Why?"
And toil in the moment.
