Game of Coke Bottles
“Tear the world in two to save me.”
"Who is that?"
I say, "Nevermind. Shhh…Listen."
When the one who’s down gets driven down
Further by others.
Shovels and deep ditches. Bottomless pits.
While bystanders turn a blind eye.
There may be no external expectation,
Except to give up -
The choices are: timely end or untimely end.
It’s up to her now.
Everyone else is disengaged.
She can fight them.
She was once one of those children,
And now she has the confidence of 100 hugs
And martial arts training.
She has the good mind-body connection.
Hell with those blind-eye bastards!
“Tear the world in two to save her.”
“That voice again.”
I say, “Shh...Listen!"
A child like her is just now being captured
And handed a gun
To fight someone’s war,
And another youth hunted, taken, and set up to sell
The business of his private parts - for change money.
“It’s just the coke bottle game. We admire you. This is your initiation.”
Someone sets off the alarm.
The dominos fall. But there is a fire without a flame.
That’s the result.
There were explosions, but no sound, no moving parts.
All the bystanders look away.
Some are laughing. Others duck and hide.
They choose to see through a veil -
To turn a blind eye.
These kids - they have no name.
Remember, 11?
Oh yeah - she’s dead. They all die early.
“Tear the world in two to save us.”
I say, “I’m on your case and help is on the way."
I bite my lip hard. I taste the blood and wish it was theirs, the “blind-eyers”.
I’d like to eat their cold hearts.
Or play a game of coke-bottles with their asses.
