Chant to the US of A!
(a poetic speech)

An agreement between the government and its people.
You and me -
We live out its promises.

Keeping us to a minimum through votes.
As a republic,
From overthrows and constant change.

Keeping our leaders from too much disarray,
And corruption,
Executors to a change every 4 to 8 years.

But are we preventing change that we need?
Is what is constant too terrible at times?
Is there deceit in our midst?

Yes.
Yes.
And yes.

There are items in certain circles we know we can never know.
And there is outcry over that.
But are we to judge?

So says our bylaws, our governing document!
To progressive surprise it is still there!
The agreement sometimes hangs by a string, but it survives today.

But it keeps the change at bay!
It maintains the status quo!
It allows madness to deepen!

People in quasi-freedom organize to matter,
Some protest with dignity, others in shame,
Others are givers at home and to lands afar.

We all have a right to live and choose -
Our occupation, our voice, our religion,
How to raise our kids.

But only some will rise.
And fewer will rise to the good occasion.
It’s called a few too many good men!

Men ironically dropping bombs while safe at home.
It doesn’t seem we should be in God’s good graces.
We reap what we sow don’t we?

Still, there are deceivers!
Still, there should be an outcry!
Still, the regular people are the best thing about America!

Chant!
Let us teach our kids well!

Chant!
Let us live with good health!

Chant!
Let us embrace life!

Chant!
End the wars!

Chant!
End the Fed!

Chant!
Bring back real news!

Chant!
End corporatism!

Chant!
End the military industrial complex!

Chant!
Let us be givers!

Chant!
Let us lead the world by example!

Chant!
Let us be good people!

And we will live by and by!
Or shall we perish!?
